ANTIGONICK IS A RETELLING OF ANTIGONE WITH A NEW CHARACTER NAMED NICK. IN THIS WORLD, NICK DOES NOT SPEAK, BUT ACTS AS AN ONLOOKER INTO THIS OFF-PUTTING GREEK TRAGEDY.
FOR THIS WORLD, THE DIRECTOR/SCENIC DESIGNER AND I SOUGHT TO CREATE A LOGICAL, LIMINAL OFFICE WORLD TO CONVEY A NARRATIVE OF MODERNITY THROUGH A CORPORATELY-CONTROLLED SETTING. IN CREATING SURREALISTIC OUTBURSTS LATER INTO THE SHOW, WE WORKED TO DISPLAY THE NAVIGATION INTO MADNESS AND THE POWER OF FATE.
THE ROLE OF NICK IN the WORLD WAS TO MAINTAIN AND RESET. HE IS SCRIPTED TO MEASURE IN THE BACKGROUND AND WE INTERPRETED THIS AS MEASURING THE TIME AND THE SPACE THAT THESE CHARACTERS EXISTED IN.
